My life in software engineering began in high school, in a first programming course where I wrote a trivia game in QBasic trying to stump a friend — who proceeded to correctly name the capital city of nearly every country I threw at him. I kept going from there, studying computer science at St. Bonaventure University, where a curriculum spanning networking, databases, and robotics led to co-authoring A Robust Mapper of Unknown Environments, published to help fund the school's computer lab and research.

My career since has been as a full-stack engineer, mostly in .NET, across a handful of companies and industries: a small point-of-sale system for a national auto repair chain, a financial services web platform migrating off classic ASP, a CAMA appraisal system built on WPF and WCF, and an enterprise system for K-12 schools. Each role added another layer — front-end interfaces, the logic to process and report on information, and the data structures underneath it all.

I joined UMass Chan Medical School in 2018 as a Senior Software Engineer, and have since been a Principal Software Engineer and, since 2022, a Manager of Software Engineering. I lead a team that builds and operates applications supporting the university's operations, while keeping an eye on new technology and how it can improve our products and services.

A few years of management meant less time writing code day-to-day. I'm actively working to change that — getting back into hands-on development, revisiting cloud infrastructure and modern tooling, and pairing with AI along the way. This site is part of that: I built and deployed it myself, AWS infrastructure included.
